Helping Hands and Smiles: Community Activities and Fundraising for Homeless Individuals in different Locations

Introduction of Our Current Fundraising Activities and Initiatives:


 Helping Hands and Smiles is a dedicated Community Interest Company committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of society’s most vulnerable members. Our organization’s core mission is to deliver dignity, health, and hope to those experiencing homelessness and urgent hardships. Grounded in compassion, empathy, and community spirit, we aim to create lasting positive change by providing not only essential aid but also comfort, understanding, and a sense of belonging to those in need.


A vital aspect of our work involves fundraising activities that enable us to continue and expand our outreach programs. We are immensely grateful to the numerous partners and communities across the UK who have generously supported our cause through various fundraising initiatives. One of our primary fundraising efforts involves bucket collections at various supermarket locations, which serve as a vital means of engaging the public and raising essential funds. We extend our sincere gratitude to the supermarket chains that have opened their doors to us, allowing us to set up collection points and interact directly with shoppers. Specifically, we have been privileged to conduct bucket collections at Tesco supermarkets in the Reading East Area, Surrey, and Farnborough, as well as Lidl supermarkets in Reading. We also wish to thank Hampshire Co-op supermarkets for their ongoing support in facilitating these collection activities. These efforts not only generate vital financial support but also raise awareness about the issues faced by the homeless and vulnerable populations we serve.


In addition to our supermarket collections, we have been active at Costa Coffee locations in Farnborough, where our volunteers have engaged with customers, sharing information about our cause and encouraging donations. We deeply appreciate Costa Coffee’s support in providing a welcoming environment for our fundraising activities. Their partnership helps us reach a diverse audience and foster community involvement in our mission.


Beyond retail locations, we participate in community events such as the Taplow area car boot sale, which provides an excellent opportunity for us to connect with local residents and raise funds in a friendly, informal setting. We are grateful to the organizers for hosting us and to the attendees for their generosity and kindness. These events not only support our financial needs but also promote awareness of the challenges faced by those experiencing homelessness, encouraging community compassion and solidarity.


Our outreach extends to the hospitality sector as well, with collaboration involving Romanian restaurants in Berkshire (Reading) and Surrey (Redhill). We sincerely thank the owners and staff of these establishments for welcoming us and hosting fundraising activities. Their support allows us to engage with a wider audience and emphasizes the importance of community cohesion in addressing social issues. We are truly appreciative of their kindness and hospitality, which greatly enhances our ability to gather resources and spread awareness.


Furthermore, we have organized smaller-scale fundraising activities such as participating in local car boot sales in the Bristol area. These initiatives, though modest in scale, are driven by a spirit of kindness and community support. We are thankful to the organizers and volunteers who facilitate these events, enabling us to reach out to new audiences and foster a culture of giving and compassion.
